If you have been following the Senate Finance Committee meeting on the amendments to the Health Care Bill you know that every single Republican amendment is defeated with unanimous vote by the Democrats and every Democrat amendment is passed by unanimous vote by the Democrats. This is a waste of time and money and America will suffer.  However, there is a way to stop this dead in its tracks.

Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure for the
Senate Finance Committee reads:

"Rule 4. Quorums. -- (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) one-third of the membership of the committee, including not less than one member of the majority party and one member of the minority party, shall constitute a quorum for the conduct of business.

(b) Notwithstanding the rule prescribed

by subsection (a), one member shall constitute a quorum the the purpose of conducting a hearing."

 Let it be known, that conservative citizens all across the United States demand that the Republican Senators in the Senate Finance Committee stop negotiating and Walk Out for America. We will support this effort and will support the Republican members of the Committee.

There was a committee vote today and the public option was defeated by a 15-to-8 vote, but Obama and the Democrats will resurrect this in other forms - please call and email the Senators.

WHEN THE WICKED RULE [Excerpts]

Are you mourning yet over the spiritual, moral, cultural and political direction of our nation?

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." (Proverbs 29:2)

Why do you suppose the people mourn - literally in "physical or mental distress" - when the wicked rule, as Scripture describes? Renowned biblical commentator Matthew Henry wrote about this passage that: The people will have cause to rejoice or mourn according as their rulers are righteous or wicked; for, if the righteous be in authority, sin will be punished and restrained, religion and virtue will be supported and kept in reputation; but, if the wicked get power in their hands, wickedness will abound, religion and religious people will be persecuted, and so the ends of government will be perverted.

Wicked rulers reject God, embrace evil and impose theft, death and destruction upon the people.

Sounding familiar?

The latest in governmental wickedness gone wild is the 63-28 passage in the U.S. Senate of S. 909, the "Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act", although its service as a gateway to oppression of freedom of speech and religion is only the secondary effect. Since all law is "legislating morality" and establishing what We the People collectively determine as the standard of right and wrong, this legislation if signed into law will take us to new depths of depravity.

I refer specifically to the inclusion of "actual or perceived ... gender, sexual orientation, gender identity. ..." (emphasis added) Also notice the inclusion of both gender and "gender identity" in addition to "sexual orientation." For the first time in federal criminal law we have not only codified the official acceptance and protection of any and every possible form of sexual deviancy, but have assured that there can be no firm definition.

Legitimately caring, concerned and conservative Christians of any denomination and ethnic background are indeed approaching "physical or mental distress" over the rapid and rabid imposition of ungodly, wicked laws and policies by our current elected federal leadership. What we have to recognize is that just as surely as the sun rises in the east, ungodly lawmakers produce ungodly laws.

We have two effective long-term political solutions: change the hearts and minds of the lawmakers by spiritual and moral regeneration through faith in Jesus Christ, or replace the lawmakers – the "rulers" – with those who are already on that Transformation Road.

Dear friend,

Allow me to say, that it excites both my wonder and concern, that a Christian minister such as yourself, should think it worth his while to attempt political reforms. When I look around upon the present state of the nation, such an attempt appears to me, to be no less vain and foolish, than it would be to paint the cabin--while the ship is sinking! Or to decorate the parlor--while the house is on fire!

When our Lord Jesus was upon earth, He refused to get involved in disputes or politics, "Friend, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?" Luke 12:14. "My kingdom is not of this world! If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight!" John 18:36. God's children belong to a kingdom which is not of this world; they are strangers and pilgrims upon earth, and a part of their Scriptural character is, that they are the "quiet in the land." Psalm 35:19.

Satan has many contrivances to amuse people, and to divert their thoughts from their real danger!

My dear sir, my prayer to God for you is--that He may induce you to employ the talents He has given you, in pointing out sin as the great cause and source of every existing evil; and to engage those who love and fear Him, (instead of wasting time in political speculations, for which very few of them are competent,) to sigh and cry for our abounding abominations, and to stand in the breach, by prayer, that God's wrath may yet be averted, and our national mercies prolonged! This, I think, is true patriotism--the best way in which people in private life may serve their country.

I consider the ungodly as saws and hammers in the hand of the Lord. So far as they are His instruments, they will succeed--but not an inch further! Their wrath shall praise Him, and be subservient to His designs!

If our lot is so cast that we can exercise our ministry free from stripes, fines, imprisonments, and death--it is more than the gospel has promised to us! If Christians were quiet when under the cruel governments of Nero and other wicked persecutors, when they were hunted down like wild beasts--then we ought to be not only quiet but very thankful now! It was then accounted an honor to suffer for Christ and the 'offence of the cross'!

Those are to be greatly pitied, who boast of their 'liberty'--and yet they do not consider that they are in the most deplorable bondage as the slaves of sin and Satan, under the curse of God's law and His eternal wrath! Oh! for a voice to reach their hearts, that they may know their true and dreadful state--and seek deliverance from their horrific thraldom! May you and I labor to direct them to the one thing, which is absolutely needful, and abundantly sufficient.

If I had the wisdom or influence to soothe the angry passions of mankind--I would gladly employ them! But I am a stranger and a pilgrim here in this world. My charter, my rights and my treasures, are all in heaven--and there my heart ought to be. In a very short time, I may be removed (and perhaps suddenly) into the unseen and eternal world--where all that now causes so much bustle upon earth--will be of no more importance to me--than the events which took place among the antediluvians!

In the hour, when death shall open the door into eternity--many things which now assume an 'air of importance', will be found as light and unsubstantial as a child's dream!

How crucial then, is it for me--to be found watching, with my lamp burning, diligently engaged in my proper calling! For the Lord has not called me to set governments right--but to preach the gospel, to proclaim the glory of His name, and to endeavor to win souls! "Let the dead bury their own dead--but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God!" Luke 9:60. Happy is that servant, whom his Master finds so doing, when He returns!

As you have forced me to respond--both duty and love have obliged me to be faithful and free in giving you my thoughts.

"Christian Patriots," Are You Ready to Die?

Many readers are undoubtedly familiar with the fun "sword drill" practice that many Sunday Schools and youth programs employ to encourage familiarity with God's Word (which is "sharper than any two-edged sword"). It's even fun for adults--would you like to give it a try? But instead of giving you chapter and verse to look up, let's make it a bit more challenging. I'll quote a commonly cited proverb, and then you find the location in Scripture. Are you ready?

Quick! Give me chapter and verse for "Cleanliness is next to godliness!" While some of you look for that passage, the rest of you locate the verse, "God helps those who help themselves!" Oh, wait. I forgot we're dealing with Bereans here (and probably a few homeschoolers) who are already on to my game. Well, let's try one more. Ready? Grab your Bibles and find, "Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God." Go!

What? It's not there? Please check again.... After all, it's the battle cry of the American Revolution--symbolized by the bright yellow banner, emblazoned with a coiled rattlesnake declaring, "Don't Tread On Me!" The clear implication, of course, is that government oppression will be met with force. Today, this rallying cry is being heard again among many conservatives--including Christian leaders and even pastors--who strongly identify with National Patriotism. In a recent column, one such writer sounded off:

I'm not sure how many of the American people realize that it was the attempted confiscation of the colonialists' cache of arms in Concord, Massachusetts, that started America's War for Independence. Yes, my friends, it was attempted gun confiscation that triggered (pun intended) the "shot heard 'round the world.... And now it would appear that, once again, a central government is on the verge of trying to deny the American people their right to keep and bear arms.... This leads to a very serious question: how many of America's gun owners would allow their government to deny them gun ownership? Further, how many would passively sit back and allow their guns to be confiscated?

From all that I've seen and read, this writer is a commendable, admirable, God-fearing man, and I imagine we would share a majority of non-negotiable Bible doctrines. However, his column proves the point stated in the April 2009 TBC Extra: "Christian Patriot. These two words are inextricably linked in the minds of most [Christians]." This inability to separate Americanism from God's will and His prophetic word is made abundantly clear with this declaration by the same author: "As humbly and meekly as I know how to say it: as for me and my house, gun confiscation is the one act of tyranny that crosses the line; debate, discourse, discussion, and peaceful dissent cease and desist at that point. I say again, it is getting very serious now (emphasis added)." So, the line in the sand has been drawn. Undoubtedly, thousands of Christian Patriots and Second Amendment supporters would agree, on Constitutional grounds. My question remains, however: Is forceful rebellion--to the point of resistance with weapons--against one's government (however tyrannical) biblically defensible?

Now, before anyone else accuses me of being "traitorous," I will restate that my heart is not anti-Patriot. It is not anti-Constitution. It is not anti-Second Amendment. It is not anti-defense. My sole purpose is to encourage believers in Christ, who claim to revere and adhere to the Bible as God's Word (by which our Creator "hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness" (2 Pt 1:3), to distinguish between what is politically or legally motivated and what is biblically or spiritually mandated.

Interestingly enough, it was an earlier column by the same writer that sparked my five-page response (whittled down to a single page for space), which became a bit of a firestarter itself--the April TBC Extra, "Would the Apostle Paul Answer the Call to Christian Patriotism?" The statement to which I initially replied was this: "A real Christian patriot would never allow his country to be taken over by a gaggle of elitist goons bent on stealing his liberties." Although reader response was, overall, humblingly positive, I did receive a few calls and letters by some who were angered, confused, or who even felt betrayed. Let me make this abundantly clear: If someone holds a personal conviction to "resist tyranny" with force based on their Constitutional right to do so, then by all legal means, get ready to "lock and load." However, if anyone uses God's name and His Word to support the cause, he's got an entirely different fight on his hands.

Israel had godly kings and wicked kings. In like manner, America has had good presidents and bad--including some whose public personae have undoubtedly obscured traitorous backroom dealings and personal depravity of which it is genuinely best that we not know (Eph 5:12). But anti-American usurper or not, our current president is God's "chosen instrument" --whom we are not to curse, but pray for (Mt 5:44, 1 Tm 2:1-2).

The Scriptures command us to "earnestly contend for the faith...once delivered to the saints." However, the saints did not rise up with armaments to "contend," because Christ's kingdom "is not of this world," and we "wrestle not against flesh and blood." In fact, to our shame and to their credit, many of these saints died without any malice toward those who martyred them. Contrast their praiseworthy humility and meekness with the prevailing tone of anger and hatred that many believers are now exhibiting (understandably so, in the flesh) toward what is unquestionably an anti-Christian, anti-Israel, pro-Muslim, pro-Marxist Novus Ordo Seclorum.

Such a prevailing attitude illustrates my point: many Christian Patriots are tragically misusing Scripture to support their cause. In the case of the columnist I've mentioned, this is evident in his unbiblical melding of Scripture with his personal conviction: "As for me and my house, gun confiscation is the one act of tyranny that crosses the line...." By quoting Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord," the writer makes a grave mistake by equating "gun ownership" with "serving God."

Tragically, such a statement elevates Second Amendment rights above the right to pray, the right to worship, the right to preach, teach, or even to read God's Word. He considers "gun confiscation the one act of tyranny that crosses the line." Surely, the other "rights" I've just mentioned are far more precious to a minister of the gospel! But does that writer (and all those who have similarly pledged to "kill or be killed" over what they believe is their "sacred" right to keep and bear arms) wish to stand before Christ and explain how they "pulled the trigger" to protect the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution? Perhaps some believers would rather wind up in prison instead--and, perhaps God would use this opportunity, as He did through the Apostle Paul, for the furtherance of the gospel. As I stated in my original "Extra:"

We are in a spiritual battle, but we must choose on which hill we are willing to die. Dying for Nationalistic Pride or even for our "Rights" is not the same as dying for the cause of Christ. Far better for godly men to survive in a pagan nation and submit to rule of law (which God ordains) and to subsist by His Word--unless (or until) we are asked to bow down and worship a false god. [But] such an affront would still not be cause to take up arms...Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah did not go into the flames as "National Patriots," willing to die for their "Bill of Rights," nor did they offer any physical resistance to their captors.

Nor did they organize the Hebrew captives to rebel against the Babylonian government (that had just destroyed Jerusalem!) and appoint Daniel as their "Spartacus" to lead this insurrection. Some rightly point out that the Second Amendment protects the First. However, while the encroaching world government can (and at some point, will) take whatever material goods and property it wants from its "global citizens," and while it can (and will) censor free speech in the press and in the public square, it cannot silence our hearts and minds and conscience before God, nor can it silence our lips in whatever "diverse trials" we may face.

I fully and gratefully acknowledge our "Christian Heritage." I daily lament the sale of our freedoms, which spiral like punched-out ticker tape to the floor. I am angered that our way of life and quality of life is literally being "changed" forever before our very eyes. But then I remember: time is short, the earth is not my home, and our eternal hope is not in the flag of the United States. There is only one Banner to which I pledge allegiance--not to "Stars and Stripes Forever," nor to a coiled serpent on a field of gold, but to the Cross of Jesus Christ.

There are those who've asked me sarcastically, "Well, what then, do we just roll over and die?" After much prayer and reflection, my answer is "Yes." The Bride of Christ does need to die--to its dreams of "kingdom now" restoration. American Christians, in particular, need to die to their idolatry of nationalism, materialism, and the "pursuit of happiness."

"If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me" (Mt 16:24). We read these words; we hear these words, but how many of us actually do these words? (Mt 1:23-25). Truly, the church in America seems accurately depicted in Christ's rebuke to the Laodicean church: "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Rv 3:17).

Yes, Christian Patriots, we need to die.... Not for this nation, but to it. (See Mk 10:21). As the faithful hymn exhorts, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in his wonderful face; and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace" (Helen H. Lemmel, 1922).

Israel and Prophetic Proof Part II

Israel is the major topic of Bible prophecy, mentioned more than 2,900 times, nearly twice as many times as her Messiah. Without Israel there would be no Messiah and no salvation for anyone, Jew or Gentile. The first mention of His coming is in God's rebuke of the guilty parties involved in man's fall in Eden: the serpent (an identity that Satan retains from Genesis to Revelation) and Adam and Eve. The Bible account is not myth but history. In many places around the world, archaeologists continue to find ancient representations of three figures appearing together: a woman, a serpent, and a tree.

God foretells a long conflict between the serpent and the Messiah and the latter's ultimate triumph that would occur in a way Satan could never have imagined. An old hymn tells it beautifully:

In weakness like defeat,
He won the victor's crown;
Trod all our foes beneath His feet
By being trodden down.
He Satan's power laid low;
Made sin, He sin o'er threw;
Bowed to the grave, destroyed it so,
And death, by dying, slew.      

God's declaration to the three guilty parties is simple and to the point. To the serpent He said, "I will put enmity between thee [serpent] and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed [the Messiah]; it [the woman's seed] shall bruise thy head [a death blow], and thou shalt bruise his heel" (Gn 3:15).

The fact that God does not say "thy seed and Adam's" must indicate that no man would be involved. From that moment, Satan was eagerly awaiting this virgin birth in order to kill the babe. Watching closely as events unfold, Satan learns that the Messiah will be of the seed of Abraham. Ishmael (father of the Arabs) is Abraham's firstborn, but by Hagar, Sarah's maid 7. Finally, Abraham is given a second son by his wife. He is Isaac, "the son of promise." It seems a miraculous birth because for 90 years Sarah had been barren though not a virgin. Satan watches and waits.

Both Ishmael and Isaac were born "in the land of Canaan" among Canaanites who had lived there for centuries (Gn 11:31; 12:5-6; 13:7, etc.). There was no such place as "Palestine" nor any people called "Palestinians." No Arabs would live in so-called Palestine until the savage Islamic conquest of the world began in the seventh century, and they would not claim descent from "the original Palestinians" until the 1950s. Anyone making such a claim via descent from Ishmael is deluded by tradition. Ishmael's father (Abraham) was a Chaldean (Gn 11:31; 15:7) and his mother (Hagar) was an Egyptian (16:1).

President Obama continues to apply pressure upon Israel to deal justly with the "Palestinians." He asks these misnamed people to cease their violence against Israel. He must know that this is like pleading with a hurricane for mercy. Since long before the days of Arafat and his partner, Mahmoud Abbas, the PLO Charter's call for Israel's annihilation has been the sworn purpose of every Islamic government in obedience to Muhammad and has been reiterated hundreds of times throughout the Muslim world.

As Mortimer Zuckerman, in his U.S. News and World Report editorial of June 9, 2009, recently reminded world leaders demanding that Israel make "peace" with the Palestinians, the latter's violence is fueled by "the incessant spewing of hatred against Israel in schools, mosques, and the media, especially TV. This poisoning of the mind of the next generation is not just the stock in trade of Hamas and Hezbollah but also of the schools and media controlled by Fatah and reporting directly to Abbas."

In spite of the facts, political and church leaders persist in avoiding any mention of Islam or Muslims when referring to their violence. That is always blamed on "extremists." In fact, Muhammad himself began this trail of death, and his followers have obeyed, as supported by the Qur'an. The simple truth of history is brushed aside by the UN and almost the entire world, including the church and, sadly, our own president.

Being repeatedly condemned by the world for trying to defend itself against suicide bomber attacks that were costing the lives of hundreds of Israelis, including women and children, Israel's only alternative was to build a barrier that would cut off the attackers from entering her homeland. World opinion expressed outrage. The World Court ruled 14-1 that construction must cease immediately and everything be dismantled, with compensation to the Palestinians. The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on July 20, 2004, 150-6, calling on Israel to respect the World Court ruling. Only the United States, Israel, Australia, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau voted against the resolution. Israel rejected world opinion and, from necessity, has proceeded with construction. Though the barrier has not been completed as of this date, it has already almost totally cut off the infiltration of terrorists.

Israel subsequently "gave back" Gaza, which historically belonged to her. She generously left operative the huge greenhouses that had fed Israel and much of Europe with fresh vegetables and could have done the same for the new "owners." Instead, these new owners tore the structures apart, and the mob carried off the materials for their individual use, thereby losing the potential income from exports that Israel had derived as well as the ability to feed themselves.

Going back to history, in 135 A.D., the Romans destroyed 1,000 Jewish villages, killed 500,000 Jews, and enslaved thousands. Furious that they'd been forced to bring in more legions to quell the rebellion, the Romans angrily renamed what had for more than 1,500 years been known as Israel. They called it Provincia Palestina after the Philistines, Israel's ancient enemies. Those living there became known as Palestinians. Who lived there? Jews! So Jews, ironically were the first "Palestinians." This is what they were called (along with many derisive names that have followed them as they've been hunted from country to country). Only in the 1950s did the Arabs begin to call themselves "Palestinians" in order to gain worldwide sympathy for their acts of terrorism even as UN pressure squeezed Israel into an ever-smaller corner in order to facilitate her destruction. (We document all of this and much more in Judgment Day.)

Since 1948, Israel has been arming herself and fighting back. Her vow of "never again" will be fulfilled but not before Jewry worldwide suffers the worst horror of her history. Under attack by all of the world's armies (Zec 12:3; 14:2; Jl 3:2, Ezk 38:8,9 etc.), Israel will call upon the Messiah, and He will rescue her. It is all declared plainly by the ancient prophets of Israel in the Old Testament (the Tenach).

It has taken the Lord many years and many circumstances to open my eyes to these prophecies. It was all there in His Word, but I didn't understand. How blind I was!

In 1966-67, my wife and I, with our four young children, were living on the third floor of a small seventeenth-century castle in Switzerland. That year was to have been an intensive time of ministry to university students, but God had something far different in mind. Suddenly, an overwhelming urgency to pray for Israel came upon me toward the end of 1966. Even when giving thanks to God at mealtime, I was compelled to include this prayer, "O Lord, I pray that you will defeat, confound, confuse, and frustrate all those who plot the destruction of Israel; turn their counsel into foolishness and protect your ancient people from their evil designs. In Jesus' name, Amen!"

I didn't understand that prayer at the time, but my naiveté was soon dispelled. In Cairo, Egypt, I went into a travel agency and asked, "How can I get to Israel?" The man waiting on me took me aside and whispered, "If you mention that [expletive] word again in this country they'll kill you!" I was shocked. I knew the Bible well but had never realized the significance of Psalm 83: "...thine enemies...that hate thee...have taken crafty counsel against thy people, [saying] let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance." This destruction has been the determined goal of Islam since it was founded by Muhammad.

Muslims are fighting against the God who calls Himself the "God of Israel" 203 times in the Bible. What an embarrassment it would be if Israel could be destroyed! It could never happen, for that act would destroy "the God of Israel" as well. He will not allow it.

Interacting with the very friendly people our family met as we drove the length and breadth of Egypt in our VW minibus in late May 1967, we repeatedly heard the words, "The 19-year war." What war was this? It took a while for that cryptic phrase to sink into our dull understanding.  From the so-called 1948 cessation of hostilities until 1967 was 19 years. Even as they professed peace, but inspired by Egypt's dictator, Gamal Abdul Nasser, the 40 million Muslims surrounding Israel had been arming nonstop to achieve her destruction. Nasser had sworn to lead the Arab world to a glorious victory. The humiliating defeat of the Arab armies in "The Six Day War" of 1967 ended Nasser's bombastic boast that he would destroy Israel. He subsequently had a nervous breakdown from which he never recovered.

In May 1948, Israel had declared its independence and was instantly attacked by the combined might of 40 million Arab/Muslims surrounding her. This tiny nation of 600,000, with its hastily assembled, hurriedly trained, and poorly equipped army of 60,000, with weapons smuggled in from Czechoslovakia (France, Britain, America, et al., would sell them nothing) fought for its survival against an enemy that had sworn its utter annihilation. They "crushed 600,000 soldiers of four Arab armies, well trained and heavily armed [with tanks and planes, of which Israel had none], reinforced by units from seven additional Arab countries, not to mention the active help of the British." This quote is part of the lengthy endorsement of Judgment Day by a retired Israeli General.

Three times God calls Israel the "apple of his eye" and warns: "He that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye" (Zec 2:8; Dt 32:10; Lam 2:18). The statements that Barack Obama continually makes in favor of Islam are not only alarming for his own sake and the sake of the United States but are a slap in the face of the God of Israel. I can only warn him with what God himself told Abraham regarding the subsequent mistreatment of his descendants: "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed" (Gn 12:3).

In a hotel room in Tyre, Lebanon, the evening of June 3, 1967, our family prayed for direction from God. We had visas to drive through Syria into Jordan and then return by the same route. The newspapers the next morning gave the answer clearly. We immediately headed north through Syria and had, by God's grace, barely gotten across the border into Turkey when the war broke out. 

In spite of hundreds of very clear declarations by Jewish prophets and the promises that God has given to His people, about 30 percent of today's Israelis claim to be atheists. He wants to bless them and protect them, but how can He, when they continue to reject Him? The following is just a sample of what God has repeatedly said to His people: "I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries...fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.... But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would [have] none of me"
(Ps 81:11-16).

Israel is both under God's judgment because of its continual rejection of the God of Israel, but at the same time, He has not abandoned her, and woe to those who take God's judgment into their own hands!

In the meantime, the nations of the world continue to become a party to Islam's deception by attempting to force Israel into what can only be a false "peace." What Islam has in mind is not what the peacemakers naively intend. It's called a hudna, the "peace" that Muhammad made with the Meccans for ten years. Long before then, under a pretense, Muslims attacked and took over that "holy" city, which had so long been the goal of the hajj (long practiced before Muhammad's birth by most Arab tribes). Of course, this ancient custom, along with others, such as the feast of Ramadan, have been taken over by Muslims. Thus, history is perverted to make it seem that these had always been Islamic practices.

Ramadan had for centuries been agreed upon by warring Arab tribes to be 30 days of peace. At just the right time to allow him to attack a passing caravan, Muhammad received a "new revelation" that Muslims could fight during this time. Ramadan has become a time of the deadliest attacks of Shiites against Sunnis (does this demonstrate to the world that "Islam is peace?")

These prophecies are so important for the strengthening of our own faith, but what about those whom we want to bring into the faith of the God of Israel? We need to provide to everyone with whom we speak (as I often do for those with whom the Lord puts me in contact everywhere, but especially on airplanes) first of all, proof of God's existence. How better to do this than to take the approach of Zinzendorf with the King of Sweden, as we mentioned in Part I of this article, using biblical prophecies about Israel?

We can talk to others about God and Jesus Christ, but when we say "God," what do we mean? A "higher power" of some kind?  We have to be sure that those whom we want to introduce to the God of Israel understand who He is, why we believe in Him, and why we think the most intelligent decision they could make is to believe in Him as well.  TBC
 

IRANIAN CHRISTIANS IN U.S. PRAYING FOR THEIR HOMELAND

Members of the Iranian Christian Church of San Diego are praying for their homeland amid continuing turmoil over Iran's disputed presidential election.

The Rev. Sohrab Ramtin, whose sermons are broadcast by satellite into Iran, says his congregation believes reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi defeated President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, though the incumbent claims to have won a landslide victory.

Ramtin says Iranian Christians hoped a Mousavi victory would ease persecution in Iran. Iran's supreme ruler, meanwhile, has warned Iranians to unite behind the country's Islamic system.

The pastor of the Iranian Christian Church of Colorado says Iran's hardline Islamic regime has caused many Iranians to turn their backs on Islam and become Christians. The Rev. Ashton Stewart, who grew up in Iran, says God also has been converting Iranians in ways only God can.

"God has been showing himself through visions of Christ, incredible healings, incredible experiences that have just confirmed for thousands of people that Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life," he shares.

While many Iranians hoped for the defeat of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Stewart says his main prayer is that the post-election crisis will help grow the church in Iran. He's also asking American Christians to "pray for the persecuted" in Iran, where he says "there are many Christians in jail today, and some of them are being treated very, very brutally."

June 9^th, 2009, Fairfax, VA—Americans for Limited Government President Bill Wilson today called upon 26 House Republicans to cosponsor legislation that would require an audit of the Federal Reserve "to account for more than $7.76 trillion committed by the Fed in just the past two years."

 

"So far, 151 House Republicans are cosponsoring this critical legislation," Wilson said.  "But unless the entire 178 member Conference is on board, including leadership, this legislation will not have a realistic chance at passage."

Wilson commented that the bill, HR 1207—sponsored by Congressman Ron Paul (TX-14)—would "provide a full accounting of the Fed's irresponsible activities of moving trillions of dollars to foreign governments and banks, crashing markets, and wrecking the economy."

 

"The Federal Reserve has committed taxpayers to bailouts totaling $7.76 trillion in less than two years," said Wilson.  "No member of Congress, including House Republicans, knows where the entirety of this $7.76 trillion will go, because the Fed is mostly exempt from being audited and attempts at oversight have been met with consistent stonewalling."

 

"This bill needs to get passed before all of the $7.76 trillion is pushed out the nation's back door," Wilson warned.

Representative Richardson Votes NO on HB 2009

...1. Health care reforms will cost a fortune. Section 9 of HB 2009-C instructs the governing board of the OHA in sub-paragraph (b.) to “develop and submit a plan to the Legislative Assembly by December 31, 2010, to provide and fund access to affordable, quality health care for all Oregonians by 2015.” It goes on to instruct the board in sub-paragraph (c.) to “develop a program to provide health insurance premium assistance to all low and moderate income individuals who are legal residents of Oregon.” (Underlining added for emphasis.)

Oregon has more than 500,000 uninsured legal residents. To “provide and fund” “quality” health care for them would cost between $2-4 billion per year, for starters. Factor in the costs of providing additional doctors, nurses, hospitals, etc. to give health care service to an additional ½ million patients, and you are talking about real money. In addition, sub-paragraph (c.) states OHA’s governing board is to “provide health insurance premium assistance to…moderate income individuals….” In past committees, supporters of HB 2009-C have expressed support for subsidized health care for those earning 300% or even 350% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).

From the FPL chart you can see that at 250% of the federal poverty level, a family with three children could be earning $64,475 and still qualify for taxpayer subsidized health care under HB 2009-C’s “moderate income” instruction. If moderate were defined as 300% FPL, that same family could be earning more than $77,000 and still qualify for taxpayer subsidies.

To me there is something wrong when those who qualify for subsidized benefits can be earning more than the taxpayers who pay for them. While I feel strongly that society has a duty to care for those who cannot care for themselves, we do a grave disservice to both the taxpayers and the recipients when the government assumes responsibility to provide health care or other benefits that individuals can and should provide for themselves. Besides, as the FPL goes up, so does the number of those eligible to receive the health care benefits. When the government provides health care, the costs do not go away, they merely get shifted for taxpayers to pay. To be successful, any health care reform must be financially sustainable, and it must be politically acceptable to 51% of the voters—because of the provisions of Section 9 (b.) and (c.), I believe HB 2009-C fails on both counts.

2. Creates the Oregon Health Czar. The Director of the Oregon Health Authority is given extensive powers to regulate the health insurance industry. In addition, Section 26 of HB 2009-C specifically exempts activities of insurers working under the direction of the OHA or DCBS from Oregon laws precluding conspiracies, monopolies, and price fixing. Such laws were implemented to protect citizens from abuse. That abuse can come from government agencies, just as it can come from corporate rogues. Exempting insurers from those safeguards merely because they are working under the OHA can have significant negative, unintended consequences.

3. Oregon Health Authority has a substantial conflict of interest. The OHA is a key regulator in Oregon’s health insurance industry. Section 10 (h.) of HB 2009-C states the following: “In consultation with the Director of the Department of Consumer and Business Services, [OHA shall] periodically review and recommend standards and methodologies to the Legislative Assembly for: (A) Review of administrative expenses of health insurers; (B) Approval of rates; and (C) Enforcement of rating rules adopted by the Department of Consumer and Business Services;” Then, in Section 10 (k.) it goes on to state: “[OHA shall] develop, in consultation with the Department of Consumer and Business Services and the Health Insurance Reform Advisory Committee, one or more products designed to provide more affordable options for the small group market.

Thus, OHA and DCBS will work together in reviewing rate approvals of private health insurers. Unless there are rules implemented to insulate OHA from access to private insurers’ data relating to administration, rating and profitability, a grossly unfair competitive advantage will exist. Not only will OHA purchase, administer and manage all Oregon health insurance plans for employees, prisoners and vulnerable citizens, OHA will also be developing and marketing its own policy or policies of health insurance benefits. This will place OHA in direct competition with the private sector insurance companies that it helps regulate.

4. OHA will force private insurers to either quit or become surrogates of the state. HB 2009-C gives the OHA tremendous power to control, intervene and regulate private health insurance companies. OHA can control private insurers’ rates, while OHA markets its own health plans in direct competition for market share. Such a “stacked deck” against private insurers will likely result in one of the two following scenarios.

(1.) The private insurers will be forced by either unfair competition or excessive regulation to abandon the Oregon health insurance market. The OHA health plans would then be the last game in town. In that event, Oregon will have government health insurance by default.

2.) The private insurers will adjust operations to financial realities, redesign health benefit plans, rates and underwriting to OHA’s dictated requirements. The private insurers will accept the profit margins OHA allows, and, essentially, become subservient to the state health care system. In that event Oregon will have government health insurance through its private insurer surrogates.

Either way, the free market for health care disappears, and state health care bureaucracy fills the void.

5. The federal government is likely to preempt state health care reforms. Notwithstanding the above arguments in favor or against HB 2009-C, on June 4, 2009, President Obama released the President’s own version of government health care reform, on a national level. The President calls for everyone to be insured, either with a policy of their own choice or government coverage. His plan would require the estimated 50 million Americans (including uninsured Oregonians), to receive health coverage. The price tag is about $1.5 Trillion, to start. Criticism of the President’s plan also applies to HB 2009-C. If the government creates its own plan and has the power to give it an artificially low price, it will effectively and quickly drive the private insurers out of the market. With competition gone, America and Oregon will have government run h ealth care whether the citizens wanted it or not.

In conclusion, HB 2009-C is not yet law. It will be debated in the House and Senate on June 8th or 9th. If it passes and is signed into law, it will cost the taxpayers $6.1 million over the next two years. When the Legislature reconvenes for the 2011 session, if the federal government has not preempted health care with a national health plan, the ground work will be laid for full implementation of the OHA. We all will be interested in seeing how much it will cost for the government to provide universal access to health care for all Oregonians by 2015. Even more interesting will be the discussion of how that cost will be paid. As mentioned above, I believe HB 2009-C will cost too much, will drive private insurers out of the market and will leave Oregonians with an unwanted, unsustainable and ill-conceived government run health care system. For these reasons, I voted against HB 2009-C in two Ways and Means comm ittees and I will vote against it on the Floor of the House. Since my position in the current session is often over-ridden by the majority, I expect HB 2009-C to be passed and become law. I have shared with you my opinions on the upside potential and downside risks of HB 2009-C. Time will tell whether my hopes for its potential or my concerns over its risks were correct.

Israel and Prophetic Proof Part I

About 150 years ago, the King of Sweden had troubling doubts about whether the Bible was really true in every word. He asked Count von Zinzendorf, bishop of the MoravianChurch, to give him proof that the Bible was truly inspired of God. The King had set aside 10 hours to hear what might be said. To his majesty's surprise, Zinzendorf informed him that the time allotted was far too much. He only needed to say one word. Astonished, the King asked what that could be. The Count replied, "Jews."

Today we would add one more word, "Israel." In Zinzendorf's day, that tiny and beleaguered nation, born on May 14, 1948, did not exist except in the hearts of Zionists who had never given up awaiting the fulfillment of the "God of Israel's" solemn promises. The continued existence of Israel today, surrounded by more than a billion Muslims who have sworn to exterminate her and who continually plot and repeatedly attack her in the attempt to do so, is one of the most astonishing miracles of modern times.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has blessed the Jewish people with a brilliance that generally far exceeds their cousins the Arabs and the rest of the Gentile world.

The Arabs have the oil, but the Jews have the brains. Lest I be accused of racism, one need only compare the numbers of Nobel prize winners among them. In the Arab/Muslim world of 1.4 billion there are 6 Nobelists: 3 for Peace, and 1 each for Chemistry, Physics, and Literature.

In the Jewish population of 14 million (one hundredth of the Arab world) there are 165 Nobelists: 51 for Medicine, 45 for Physics, 27 for chemistry, 22 for Economics, 11 for Literature, and 9 for Peace. This is astonishing!

TERROR CREEP

From a base in the Swat Valley, Taliban influence and infiltration are spreading through a nuclear-armed nation.

The Pakistani government may have sincerely believed it could contain the Taliban by giving the extremist group a district to rule, but Pakistani Christians understand the Taliban's ultimate agenda. Taliban militants in Karachi's Taiser Town-hundreds of miles from the Taliban's newly obtained Swat Valley-chalked the homes and churches of local Christians with threats and slogans demanding that they pay the jizra, an Islamic tax for the protection of non-converts. When the Christian community washed the slogans from the buildings, dozens of armed militants arrived and shot three people execution style on April 22, including 11-year-old Irfan Masih, who died a few hours later.

Nestled in the North West Frontier Province, the Swat Valley is known as the "Switzerland of Pakistan" for its snow-capped mountains, lush meadow, and crystal-clear lakes. But few tourists have visited this region since the Taliban burned down its ski resort, banned education for girls, and destroyed more than 200 schools.

According the American Bar Association, Sotomayor is a member of the NCLR, which bills itself as the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S.

Meaning "the Race," La Raza also has connections to groups that advocate the separation of several southwestern states from the rest of America.

Over the past two days, Sotomayor has been heavily criticized for her racially charged statement: "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

As WND previously reported, La Raza was condemned in 2007 by former U.S. Rep. Charles Norwood, R-Ga., as a radical "pro-illegal immigration lobbying organization that supports racist groups calling for the secession of the western United States as a Hispanic-only homeland."

Norwood urged La Raza to renounce its support of the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan – which sees "the Race" as part of an ethnic group that one day will reclaim Aztlan, the mythical birthplace of the Aztecs. In Chicano folklore, Aztlan includes California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and parts of Colorado and Texas.

Battle for religious freedom more urgent than ever

The battle for religious freedom grows more and more urgent with every passing day as greater numbers of Christians find themselves discriminated against–silenced–even fired because of their religious beliefs.

For example, a teacher in a Pennsylvania public school was told that she could not post a picture of the Statue of Liberty in her classroom because it has the words "God Bless America" at the bottom. A janitor at another school was warned that he would be fired if he continued to wear a t-shirt that proclaimed, "Real men love Jesus."

A third grader was prevented from silently reading his Bible during free reading time at a California public school. His teacher informed him that doing so would be disrespectful to other students!

Then there is the case of Brittany McComb, the high school valedictorian from Nevada whose microphone was turned off when she started speaking about the part her Christian faith had played in her success in school. Institute attorneys are currently in the process of appealing Brittany's case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Make no mistake: these individuals were not discriminated against simply because they were religious. They were discriminated against because they were Christians. At the same time, individuals of other faiths often have a much easier time exercising their rights in the schools.

Shock find: Netanyahu dividing Jerusalem

The Israeli government quietly has begun constructing the country's security barrier along a controversial route that will effectively block off Jewish property and an important Jewish neighborhood from the rest of Jerusalem, WND has learned.

The scenario will likely be surprising to political observers here. During his candidacy, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about the importance of maintaining and developing a Jerusalem region called E1, specifically the Jewish neighborhood of Maale Adumim in eastern Jerusalem. The Palestinians want that area as part of a state.

The new barrier route, however, will essentially isolate the so-called Palestinian side of Maale Adumim, as well cordon off local Jewish property.

Since 2002, the security barrier has created a de facto border between Jerusalem and the West Bank. The new route now threads along an area called Anata, leaving eight acres of property owned by Jews on the Palestinian side. The previous governments of Ehud Barak and Ariel Sharon delayed construction of the barrier in the area, largely because the route was being contested by local Jewish landowners, but also because it would disconnect Maale Adumim from greater Jerusalem. A Supreme Court case on the subject is pending.

In spite of the ongoing court case...Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak personally visited the Jerusalem areas in question and unilaterally ordered the defense ministry to construct the barrier through Anatot, blocking off Jewish land and helping to isolate Maale Adumim....

As all principled Democrats are pounding their uncompromising collective fist on the GOP's big tent, demanding that conservatives compromise their principles, and even Colin Powell has joined their unanimous opinion about the glaring lack of diverse opinions among Republicans, conservatives are clearly left with no other choice than to move their big tent down from the moral high ground to where the progressive majority is, so it can be better monitored by the media and have easy access for morally disabled persons with diverse opinions.

Marketing Slogans for the Age of Moderation Everyone knows that this country was built by great moderates who made history by compromising their ideals and principles. So let us take a moment and look back at great compromises throughout history. This is now the correct narrative. Please update your past. The great compromiser Ronald Reagan was always careful not to offend people. In June 1987 he famously issued the following moderate, inoffensive statement: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down half this wall." This made everyone happy and didn't drive moderates out of the party, which could have happened if he were to make a more categorical demand. Fearing he would alienate centrists, Reagan also changed the original characterization of the USSR as "the evil empire" to a more moderate "misunderstood commonwealth," for which he was forever extolled by the White House press corps. In 1862, another Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, was also working hard to reach a middle ground between pro-slavery and anti-slavery factions in his party. Aware of the need to get along and compromise on sensitive issues, Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, in which he gave slaves freedom from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, after which time they needed to return to their masters. In 1773, a group of about 200 agitated Bostonians, some wearing Native American costumes and whooping war chants, marched two by two to the wharf, descended upon three ships, and dumped half of the crates with tea into the harbor. The rest of the crates they took home, forming a long line at the customs house to pay the proper tax set by the British crown. Most colonists applauded their compromise and it didn't antagonize London enough to pass the Intolerable Acts, which might potentially close the Port of Boston. In October 1492, when Christopher Columbus discovered that the trip was taking longer than expected and his sailing associates began to threaten him with mutiny, Columbus reached a compromise with the sailors' union representative and the ship community organizers by promising to turn back if land was not sighted in five minutes, on condition that they wouldn't tell anyone. The land would've been discovered the next day, but maintaining good relations with the sailing community was a much more important objective. Upon their return, Columbus and his associates told people that they had reached a bountiful shore but they didn't bring any proof of it because they felt it would be wrong to engage in trade and corrupt indigenous cultures with Western-made trinkets. One can find many examples of great compromises between right and wrong in the Bible. In the year of 33 AD, Jesus famously drew a line in the sand and suggested, "Let he who is without a Class 1 felony or who hasn't been arrested within the last five years and has no pending warrants cast the first stone." Mary Magdalene was subsequently stoned to death, but the needs of the many prevailed in this textbook example of a graceful compromise that met the demands of the larger community. Realizing that the road to political fortune is paved with principled compromises, today's Republicans have long ago abandoned the concept of "small government" and are instead calling for "smaller government," which means that if they ever reduce the government's consumption of the GDP from 20% to 19.99%, they can declare victory and call it a day. Unfortunately, not all Republicans are willing to open their minds to the numerous opportunities of getting along and compromising their principles in a graceful and acceptable manner. Opponents of abortion, for example, could find an easy way out of their unpopular stand by accepting socialized medicine, which will inevitably make the lines so long that by the time a pregnant woman reaches the top of the waiting list, her baby is already 18 months old and no political harm is done to any of the parties. It is high time everyone in America understood that only by being moderate and sacrificing our principles to the greater good can we maintain a more average union, improve the Constitution with an equal proportion of negative and positive rights, and fulfill the promise of the Bill of Permissions, which entitles all men, women, and transgendered persons to existence, compliance, and administered satisfaction.  In 2008, the U.S. Border Patrol caught about 705,000 illegals trying to cross the border, and California alone spent $14 billion in social services for illegal immigrants. But with the current drug war raging in Mexico, the Border Patrol is finding more than just men, women and children trying to cross into the United States — in particular, criminals.

   Six U.S. Border Patrol Agents have lost their lives due to conflicts, and thousands have been injured since 2000. Night poses the greatest risk for agents because of a higher rate of violence after dark, when a majority of the ranch burglaries, assaults, and murders take place along the border.

   MS-13, a gang from El Salvador, is considered the most dangerous violent gang in the U.S. It has been known to smuggle drugs and guns across the border, but more recently they are being linked with drug cartel leaders. Some say they’ve been working with Hamas and Al Qaeda.

   Reportedly, prayer rugs, the Koran, and terrorist-linked documents have been left behind on land south of the American border. The Department of Homeland Security is briefing Border Patrol agents on anti-terrorism tactics, and the private Minutemen Civil Defense Corps and Border Patrol Auxiliary have brought in a terrorist expert to lecture members on how to identify a possible terrorist threat.

  “We do what our government won’t. We believe in our country and the United States Constitution,” said Minuteman Kate Hilton.

The new Dean of the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Massacusetts, has given a sermon describing abortions as a "blessing" for the women who undergo them. The Rev Katherine Hancock Ragsdale also thinks that the people who run abortion clinics are "heroes" and even "saints".

Ms Ragsdale, speaking in Birmingham, Alabama, said that "when a woman becomes pregnant within a loving, supportive, respectful relationship; has every option open to her; decides she does not wish to bear a child; and has access to a safe, affordable abortion - there is not a tragedy in sight - only blessing."

Do not, please, make the mistake of assuming that she is an unrepresentative extremist: liberal Anglicans in America are among the most fervent supporters of abortion in the world, outstripping even atheists in their enthusiasm for this gruesome procedure.

Gay Agenda in open court

With a vacancy soon on the U.S. Supreme Court, homosexual blogs are discussing the potential of a homosexual being appointed.

 Politico.com reports homosexual-rights groups are upset with President Barack Obama for not choosing an openly "gay" person for his Cabinet, and are urging him to appoint the first openly homosexual justice. The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund is hailing the candidacy of First Amendment scholar Kathleen Sullivan, while Stanford law professor Pam Karlan is also frequently mentioned. Both have been open about their sexuality and have been active for homosexual legal causes.

Ontario Teacher Punished for Speaking Out on Reinstated Sexual Offenders

Jim Black approached Canadians for Accountability in early 2009, looking for help. A retired Ontario teacher with 30 years of experience, he appears to have an excellent reputation amongst his peers: in 2002 he was nominated for the Prime Minister's Award in teaching and he served on the Ontario College of Teachers Council from 2002-2003. We evaluated his situation and determined that he fit the criteria of a whistleblower in difficulty.

Mr. Black was contacted by the Ontario Ministry of Education in 2004 and asked to provide a critique of the Ontario College of Teachers. As his experience there was troubling, he produced a four-page report that was very critical of the College - notably in its allowing sexual offenders back into the classroom - and recommended some significant changes. Following this, he reports a series of escalating reprisals. He retired in 2006 and made his report more public. This resulted in media attention, which in turn led to disciplinary action by the College.

Mr. Black now exists in a Kafka-esque psuedo-legal nightmare, charged with vague offences and threatened with fines and suspension - despite the fact that he has now retired. Yet, as far as we can determine, no action has been taken to address the problems that Mr. Black reported.

Canadians for Accuntability prepared a letter of support and sent it to the Registrar of the Ontario College of Teachers, Mr. Brian McGowan. This letter, linked below, asks for Mr. McGowan to consider abandoning the disciplinary process now under way and re-evaluate the case. We have not received a reply, and it appears as though the College intends to penalize Mr. Black. The letter also contains details of the case.

Unmasking the "Gay" Agenda

By J. Matt Barber Balance of Power Americans who self-identify as “gay” or lesbian comprise roughly one to three percent of the population. Yet the homosexual movement — led by extremist homosexual pressure groups like the so-called Human Rights Campaign (HRC) — represent, per capita, one of America’s most powerful and well-funded political lobbies. Consider that HRC and the HRC foundation alone have an annual budget in excess of 50 million. Through a carefully crafted, decades-old propaganda campaign, homosexual activists have successfully cast homosexuals — many of whom enjoy positions of influence and affluence — as a disadvantaged minority. They have repackaged and sold to the public behaviors which thousands of years of history, every major world religion and uncompromising human biology have long identified as immoral and sexually deviant. The Goal As with every major political movement, the homosexual lobby is pushing a specific agenda. It is often called the “gay agenda.” At its core is a concerted effort to remove from society all traditional notions of sexual morality and replace them with the post-modern concept of sexual relativism. That is to say, when it comes to sex, there is never right or wrong. All sexual appetites are “equal.” If it feels good, do it. Ultimately, the homosexual lobby’s primary objective is to radically redefine our foundational institutions of legitimate marriage and the nuclear family by unraveling God’s natural design for human sexuality. In so doing, they hope to elevate their own spiritual and biological counterfeit and establish a sexually androgynous society wherein natural distinctions between male and female are dissolved. This creates cultural and moral anarchy.

Lars Larson: Kulongoski should be ashamed (I thoroughly agree, but whaddya expect from a pansy leftist?)

The emails began this weekend. I was hearing from parents. I was hearing from grandparents. I was hearing from people who were just plain fans of the United States military. They were angry at what Governor Kulongoski had done.

He’d appeared at some of the Muster ceremonies where troops are being assembled in Oregon. They will be heading off to further training and then on to Iraq.

What did the Governor do? He gave long speeches about how dangerous it was over there. Something that all of those military families already knew all too well. And then what he did was worse.

He had decided he was not going to shake hands with anybody for fear of spreading the flu. I don’t know if that is a legitimate fear or not, but that is what he decided to do.

He could have kept his mouth shut, but instead he told the troops, “I’m not going to shake your hands because I’m worried about spreading the flu.” Instead, he gave them little containers of hand sanitizer.

The Governor didn’t have much class.

Hate Crime Laws Threaten Religious Freedom

By Robert Knight and Lindsey Douthit "In Canada, we respect freedom of speech, but we don't worship it." --Canadian Broadcast Standards Council in its rebuke of radio talk-show host Dr. Laura Schlessinger for her remarks on homosexuality **** Proponents of "hate crime" laws say they are needed to protect minorities from acts of violence. But "hate crime" laws are unnecessary. Criminal acts are already illegal. What's more, "hate crime" laws violate the constitutional right to equal protection, create the un-American offense of "thought crime," and abridge the freedoms of speech, religion and association. "Hate crime" laws work this way: They add penalties to a criminal sentence if the criminal is also convicted of having a "hateful" intent toward the victim based on the victim's real or perceived group identity. Crime victims who don't fit into certain categories see their assailants face lesser penalties. Ultimately, "hate crime" laws punish only beliefs or thoughts. All totalitarian countries employ "thought crime" laws that criminalize the conscience. Now, under "hate crime" laws that include "sexual orientation," even Western nations with long traditions of freedom, such as the United States, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Sweden, are experiencing more and more challenges to basic freedoms. "Hate crime" laws are a key part of a long-term strategy by homosexual activists to use "sexual orientation"-based policies and laws to suppress dissent, radically redefine marriage and, ultimately, to criminalize Biblical morality.

Oops...is it only gays who can use the term "Queer Eye?" Guess some of us missed the memo.

Oh, for Joe's sake...liberals know gays are queer, which is the whole reason they push the gay agenda. Dangerous? Not necessarily, but I'd think twice before letting any man alone with either of my kids for any length of time.

In his press conference Wednesday night, President Obama offered a nice little sermonette on "shortcuts." Asked about his decision to release the "torture memos" and ban waterboarding, Obama said: "I was struck by an article that I was reading the other day talking about the fact that the British during World War II, when London was being bombed to smithereens, had 200 or so detainees. And Churchill said, 'We don't torture,' when ... all of the British people were being subjected to unimaginable risk and threat. ... Churchill understood, you start taking shortcuts, over time, that corrodes what's best in a people. It corrodes the character of a country." It's a nice, honorable statement.
